The task is still a preventive task on the asset's schedule; only the assignee changes. A CMMS raises it against the operator or the line, the operator closes it from a simple form or a tablet on the machine, and a defect found becomes a work request for the maintenance team. That way the schedule is still complete, the history still shows the task was done, and the reactive work order that follows an operator's finding is linked to the inspection that found it. Fewer of the simplest preventive work orders, more corrective work found early rather than found as breakdowns, and a schedule that has to be rewritten to show which tasks are the operator's and which the technician's.
